Why it's important to have Live Chat on your company's website!

Everyone has a website and the whole goal of a website is to communicate with existing customers but also to attract new prospects too. I am sure by now we have all learned that the requirements of a good website are something that is dynamic and interactive rather than a "brochure" with static information like we all had back in the day.

Now we are not massive marketing experts here and like anyone else we consult with the folks that do this for a living. Our "experts" tell us many things like it’s not just about a website it’s about a "machine" that handles social, email marketing, blogs, analytics, AND the website. Of course nothing comes without a cost and the whole inbound marketing thing that get pricey at times.

Now we can post tons of links explaining how live chat really boosts traction on your websitelike this one, orthat one, and thisother onehowever can we stop and maybe use a little common sense on this one? We all live in an instant gratification world now one in which people have massive amounts of information at their disposal with a click of a button. The faster someone finds you and can get the info the want from you the better the chances they don’t look on for someone else who does what you do and can communicate with them faster! It's really that straight forward in many cases! Let’s also not forget that the younger folks prefer to communicate electronically via text and chat more than they like to talk on the phone.Live Chat really gives your customer / prospect the chance to "get in" and "get out" and also helps you: Increase Sales, Increase Customer Satisfaction, and "weed out the people that don't make sense."

Here at BVoIP we use a FREE Live Chat tool calledTawk.to. That's right you could totally add Live Chat to your website for nothing! However, if you are going to go down this road you really need to make sure you don't put a tool out there and then forget about it. What does that mean? You need to assign a person or group of people who are constantly manning the chat tool to really get results. Simply installing something and then waiting for someone to engage you is probably not the best way to go about it. Also, if someone does try and chat with you and you are not there and constantly away than this could hurt you more than help you. Yes there is a mobile app and yes you can do this from any browser Windows or Mac.

For what it's worth, this applies to all industries not just IT or tech and felt it was worth mentioning as it has really helped us here greatly. A few metrics as we come to the close of this post.

- Of total visitors to our website roughly 8% per month engage us via chat

- Of the 8%, roughly 52% are prospective customers who have not spoken to us before
