Determining SMS Methods to Use

This article will provide insight asto the main differences of the different SMS options available with bvoip.

Why Choose a Single SMS Method?

Due to limitations with SMS registration, SMS methods can not be mixed and matched between numbers.

The 10 DLC Form

Regardless of the method of SMS selected, the 10 DLC form still needs to be filled out and processed by the US Registry based on the type of SMS traffic you plan to use, not the method. Incoming only SMS messages are exempt from the 10 DLC registration.

Why SMS to Chat?

The SMS to Chat functionality works within the Chat section of the bvoip Softphone Webclient and mobile app. Numbers with SIPTrunk need to be registered as SMS to API and requires special setup with the SIPTrunk and Inbound Rules in the bvoip phone system. This SMS method is best for those who would like images to be sent and received as well as be able to send SMS messages based on call flow destinations such as call queues and individual extensions.

Why SMS to Email?

The SMS to Email functionality is the simplest of SMS methods. This method allows for users to receive an SMS message to an email and respond via email, while the SMS sender will receive an SMS message. There is no special set up needed for this method aside from making sure that the enabled number is registered as SMS to Email. Images can be used with this method on the premise with being received only.
