How to Update Firmware for Yealink Phones
This article will provide insight asto how to validate and update firmware for a Yealink device.
Validating the Firmware Version
Information on the most recent firmware version for the intended Yealink device can be found on the Yealink manufacturer site.
Yealink IP Phones on Firmware Versions XX.83.0.20 - XX83.0.55
If the Yealink firmware version is between XX.83.0.20 - XX83.0.55, there is an update that has caused these firmware versions to become locked. The firmware update will need to be completed manually through the device's web interface.
Locating the Device Firmware
- Locate the intended device model on the Yealink site. The latest firmware will be shown in the version list. Note: The latest Firmware will be displayed first.
- Enter the phone's provisioning menu by pulling the the phone's IP and putting it into a browser.
- Login with the set credentials. The phone provisioning menu will appear.
Note: If the device is not provisioned, the Username and Password will be admin. - Go to the Status tab.
- Scroll down to the Version section. The current version of installed firmware will be displayed.
Updating the Firmware
If the version of Firmware is not the most recent, it will need to be downloaded and updated.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Go to the Upgrade menu option.
- Go to the Select and Upgrade Firmware section of the page.
- If the upgrade file is a zip file on the computer, unzip it.
- Click the Choose File button to pull the unzipped update file to be uploaded.
- Click the Upgrade button.
- Reboot the phone.
Note: This will take just a few minutes for the phone to cycle. There should be two power cycles, one to update the firmware and another to reboot the device.
