Blocking Unwanted Numbers
This article will provide a walkthrough on blocking calls from unwanted numbers.
Blacklisting Numbers vs Other Methods
Blacklisting numbers is a method of security where bothersome bot and spam numbers can be blocked one at a time. Call Rules and SIP based blocking are recommended for more malicious attacks.
How to Block Incoming Numbers
- Log into the bvoip phone system.
- Click on the Dashboard drop-down menu.
- Go to the Settings subsection.
- Select the Blacklisted Numbers tile.
- Click on the Add button. The screen will refresh.
- In the Incoming Caller ID to be Blocked field, add the desired phone number to be blocked with an asterisk in front of it. This allows the number work regardless of what prefix is in front of it, such as +1.
- In the Description field, input a short note for the blocked number if desired.
- Click the Save button. The page will refresh to show a listing of blacklisted numbers.
Removing a Blacklisted Number
To remove a number from the blacklisted list, scroll down to the desired number and click on the red X button.
